General Description of Requirement
In 2014, Vancouver City Council, acting on recommendations from the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability, approved the creation of the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency (the ‘Housing Agency’).
The Housing Agency is an entity that is separate from, but accountable to the City of Vancouver, with the City as the sole shareholder. Its mandate is to expedite the delivery of affordable housing options to achieve the objectives set out in the City’s Housing and Homelessness Strategy (2012-2021) by facilitating the development of selected City-owned sites.
This Request for Proposal (PSVAHA2017-04) is to enable the Housing Agency to procure a development partner(s) to facilitate the development of two sites, one at 1001 Kingsway and one at 3279-3297 Vanness Avenue. Development at 1001 Kingsway is to include approximately 43 units of new affordable rental housing with a goal of approximately 50% family residences. Development at Parcels 3 and 5A is to include approximately 69 units of new affordable rental housing with a goal of approximately 50% family residences.
