General Description of Requirement

The Zero Emissions Building Plan (ZEBP) seeks to reduce the operational emissions of new construction in Vancouver to zero by 2030. This means that the embodied emissions of the building – all the emissions that take place to produce the materials and assemble and replace them on site – will become the only source of emissions from new construction. There are a range of options available today to designers to reduce embodied carbon in construction, but information on those options, including their effectiveness, costs, and other challenges, are not readily available to the design community.
