General Description of Requirement

The RFP concerns the City’s interest in procuring plant installation and establishment services at 63rd Avenue & Yukon Street. Details of the City’s objectives and requirements to which the RFP relates are set out in Part B of the RFP. The City welcomes proposals that are responsive to this RFP (“Proposals”) respecting innovative or novel approaches to the City’s objectives and requirements.

The boulevard on 63rd Avenue and Yukon Street was identified in the Marpole Community Plan as an opportunity to increase access to green space and enhance rainwater management. One of the key boulevard improvements will be the creation rain gardens that will manage rainwater by taking surface flows from adjacent paved surfaces, filtering it through native plants and grasses and allowing it to infiltrate through a soil bed into underlying soils.

The boulevard improvements will include rain gardens, new sidewalks, seating plazas and a drinking water fountain. Hardscaping, ground preparation, and soil installation work will be carried out by others prior to the commencement of the planting and establishment contract.
