General Description of Requirement

This request for information (RFI) is for information purposes only.

This is not a request for quotation (RFQ) or proposal (RFP). Responses received will not be evaluated or ranked, nor used to screen, pre-qualify, or select social enterprises for any future solicitations.

A social value business, also referred to as a “diverse supplier,” is based on a certification and have a majority ownership or control by an under-represented, marginalized, or equity-seeking population.

These populations may be represented by, but are not limited to, non-profit (social enterprise), women, Indigenous Peoples, cooperatives, ethno-cultural (minorities, newcomers, or immigrants), persons with disabilities, or LGBTQ+ persons.

The objective of Social Value Procurement is to leverage resources & relationships that:

-Increase economic opportunities
-Diversify the Supply Chain: promote social value business that have a recognized certification and/or are owned/controlled by an equity seeking population (including but not limited to nonprofits/coops, women, Indigenous persons, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+)
-Improve economic independence and capacities
-Promote workforce diversity – underemployed, unemployed, under-represented groups
-Advance inclusion, reconciliation, equity and diversity
