General Description of Requirement

The City of Vancouver (the “City”) invites Tenders for the rehabilitation of Kitsilano Outdoor Pool. The Kitsilano Outdoor Pool was constructed in the late 1970's, replacing a tidal pool built in 1931. The pool tank coating and caulking has reached end of serviceable life, now requiring complete removal and replacement of the coating and replacement of the expansion joint caulking. The failures at the expansion joints and the coating are causing an extensive quantity of make-up water for replenishment beyond that normally required due to evaporation.

The work generally includes, but is not limited to:

- Installation of scaffold and weather protection
- Removal of existing pool tank coating on bottom of tank and all vertical walls of tank
- Removal of existing caulking in all expansion and construction joints in pool tank and gutter walls
- Replacement/Repairs to east and west cantilever decks over gutters
- Repairs to caulking joints and re-caulking as per specifications
- Application of new coating as per specifications including air ventilation for interior of scaffold enclosure.
- Reinstatement of pool tank markings, lane markers
- Other work as on drawings and in specifications.

Information Meeting

Tenderers are required to attend the mandatory information meeting (the “Mandatory Information Meeting”) on July 12, 2017 commencing at 10:00 am.

The location of the Mandatory Information Meeting will be: Kitsilano Outdoor Pool, 2305 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver, British Columbia V6K 1B6.

Tenderers are asked to pre-register for the Mandatory Information Meeting by submitting the Mandatory Information Meeting Attendance Form (Appendix 1) to the Contact Person by fax or email prior to July 12, 2017.

A 2nd optional site visit is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Meeting point will be at the Kitsilano Outdoor Pool, 2305 Cornwall Ave., Vancouver, B.C.

This 2nd optional site visit is intended for general contractors or potential prime contractors who attended the 1st mandatory site visit. Subcontractors are invited to attend.
